He graduated in Medicine from the University of Hong Kong in 1939 after he gave up music as a career choice. Bard served in the Hong Kong Volunteers Field Ambulance Unit and was imprisoned in war camps during the Japanese occupation. After the war, he became the first Executive Secretary for the Antiquities and Monuments Office in 1976.Interview summaryNarrates his family background in Russia and his decision to immigrate to China on the onset of the Russian Revolution.
