Senior Archives Officer
Job Description:
Location: CLP Pulse
Employment period: Permanent/ 2-Year Contract
Preserving the past to forge the future – we are looking for a high calibre professional to join the Archives team of The Hong Kong Heritage Project. Reporting to the Head of Archives who heads the archive operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the job duties as listed below.
Responsibilities:
- Manage appraisal and acquisition of records from corporate and external depositors.
- Perform arrangement, description, preservation and other day-to-day collection management functions.
- Develop and manage archival systems and manage the Project website.
- Implement digitisation and digital preservation programmes for archives in line with established policies and standards.
- Develop expert collections knowledge in designated and wider subject areas for providing corporate historical information and heritage related materials in support of the initiatives of various business functions.
- Support the Head of Archives to implement new archive policies and procedures.
- Render advice and support to external researchers to access the archival collections.
- Support communication activities to promote the archival collections and their value to industry, employees, academics and the wider community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Degree holder, post-graduate qualifications in Archives Management and/or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in archives management. Experience in institutional archives environment a plus.
- Experience in deploying and managing archives management system, digital preservation and digital assets management system is a plus.
- Strong relationship management with corporate depositors and researchers.
- Well-organised, detail-minded and be able to work independently.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.
- Good understanding of related legislation, standards and best practice.
- Good knowledge of Hong Kong history and enthusiasm in heritage preservation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well versed in MS Office (Chinese and English). Knowledge and interest in digital archives and technology are preferable.
- An ability to move moderate weight and access archive shelving at all levels.
- Willing to work outside normal hours and on weekends, if deemed necessary.
