He obtained his Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba in 1969. He was the Head of Department of Architecture in HKU from 1996 to 2000. Lau has also served as President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Vice Chairman of the Town Planning Board. At the time of the interview in 2008 Lau was the Legislative Council Member for Architectural, Surveying and Planning Functional Constituency.Interview summarySpeaks of his early influences as well as the architectural scenes in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
