He joined the Merchant Navy and later qualified as a commercial pilot in 1943. Eather was then commissioned as a flying officer in the Citizen Air Force Reserve. In 1946, Captain Eather joined Roy Farrell Export-Import Co. Ltd, the forerunner of Cathay Pacific.Interview summaryRecounts his childhood interest in becoming a pilot and his experience in the Merchant Navy during wartime.
