Technion was conceived in the early 1900s by the German-Jewish fund Ezrah as a school of engineering and sciences. It was one of only two institutions of higher learning in the then Ottoman Palestine. Horace Kadoorie was elected and served on the Board of Governors for many years thanks to the family’s historic connection with the institute.
