Why Oral History

about oral history.jpg Oral history testimonies are historical information based on personal knowledge, experiences, opinions and memories. It complements, strengthens and provides alternative vantage points to the written records.

At the Hong Kong Heritage Project (HKHP), we’ve recorded all our oral history interviews on film, moving beyond audio to capture gestures, facial expressions and emotions – thereby giving history a human face.

We selected our themes in accordance with their relevance to Hong Kong’s social and economic development, their human interest and to reflect the records in our Archive, which include many corporate records.

about oral history.jpg
