Complementing the very unique “Factory Hong Kong” exhibition, the Antiquities and Monuments Office and The Hong Kong Heritage Project had organised the "From a Thread to a Dress" panel discussion. featuring media professional Stephen Chan as the moderator, and Managing Director of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Paul Poon; LegCo Member (Textiles and Garment), Felix Chung; fashion designer, William Tang; and member of Public Relations Committee of the Community Chest, Quince Chong, as speakers.
During the early post-war period, textile and garment industries were the pillar of the manufacturing sector that drove the economic development of Hong Kong. The panel explored Hong Kong’s industrial history and its relationship with the local fashion industry, and investigated the changes in the industry and society over time from different perspectives.
